Advent in the Northland
Advent in the Northland comes in on a blizzard. It seems fitting, given the season. Seems fitting, as well given the turbulence that surrounds our nation and world, that “travel is not advised.” We wait out the storm. We are sorely in need of moments suspended, the pause, the silence. Such is the gift of advent. The ancient story of waiting in hope and expectation is countercultural. It is a gift to a world always in a rush; a gift for you and for me. It is a gift I wish to unwrap in the here and now. I invite you to do so as well. We need this time of waiting, not in an anxious way, but in a reflective way. Take time by yourself. Take time away with others. Join in the music, the prayers, the silence, the reflection with other pilgrims on Sunday mornings. Ask someone to join you as an Advent prayer partner. Take quiet time for yourself. Step away, into the quiet-at least for little while.
With you on the journey,
Pastor Judith
