Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ at Pilgrim
I am deeply touched by the affirmation I have felt since being offered the position as your pastor. I am excited to begin our journey and humbled by your gracious reception. The candidacy weekend was truly a memorable experience in many ways, but especially because God spoke loudly and clearly to me. I enjoyed interacting with all of the children, youth, and adults who came to the open house on Saturday. I am not quite sure what Karma, my dog, thought about being at the open house, but my family sure enjoyed being welcomed so well. Leading worship that Sunday was difficult because I just wanted to soak up God’s Spirit and the talents so many people were graciously sharing. After the congregational vote, when I was called back into the sanctuary amidst the applause and joyful faces, God’s Spirit filled my soul and touched me as deeply as when I was ordained. I knew exactly whose I am and where I am meant to be. After more than a year of uncertainty, it feels so good to be grounded and knowing without a doubt what God wants me to do. I am proud of you for the journey you have taken on this past year and I am thankful for Pastor Jennifer’s leadership, as well as that of other previous pastors. I look forward to getting to know you better and journeying in faith with you as we embark on a Pilgrim quest for living out God’s love in traditional and new ways.
