My Bailiwick

Dear Pilgrims,

I am so looking forward to seeing you this Sunday for worship and the annual meeting of the congregation. In our Congregational polity, the annual meeting is kind of a big deal. Among other things, it’s a reminder that the congregation is the foundation of the church—you own the building and the responsibility for its care and upkeep; you hire the minister, and, should you be so inclined, you could fire the minister (please don’t); you decide what we should spend and how and where we should spend it. In other words, this is where all that stuff gets decided! So please, if it is at ALL possible, plan to attend the annual meeting in the sanctuary after worship, or on Zoom via the link below.

Also on June 19, we join in the celebration of the emancipation of enslaved African Americans—surely a sacred event worthy of our attention and remembrance.

But before all that, a wonderful Four Hand Piano Concert this Friday evening at 7:00 pm with our very own Jessica Schroeder and Patrick Colvin to kick off the fundraising for the rebuilding of the Steinway piano in the sanctuary. I hope I will see you there!

Love to us all,
Carla
