From Pastor Carla

Dear Pilgrims,

I am so glad to be here and I can’t wait to see you this Sunday! We will be celebrating World Communion Sunday, a tradition that reminds us we are part of a global Christian community, working and praying for peace through our presence at the table of Jesus, our Christ. Does our participation in this simple practice matter in a world filled with tension and conflict? Well, yes and no. As individuals, our practices are not likely to bring about reconciliation between Palestinians and Jews, but committing ourselves to being peace-makers in our own small spheres of influence can bring much-needed reconciliation where there is tension and conflict in our lives. To do THAT work, it helps to be nourished at the communion table. Our Scripture readings for Sunday are actually 28 verses describing the place of the table through the Biblical roots of our faith.

Youth Service Project

Thanks to everyone who participated in the service project making dog and cat toys for animal allies. Organized by Parker Tewes and Grace Beaster. It was a lot of fun.

Andrew Strietz and Dee Desotelle, Anne Whitworth and Sarah Beaster master the knots for up cycling t-shirts into dog toys.

At the request of Pastor Carla, her reserved parking space will be moved to the spot closest to the playground area across from where it is currently located at the front corner near the building. Her previous place will be open for parking. Thank you!

Mailbox Update

The mailboxes in the office have fresh labels, and some have moved. If you have a mailbox, stop by and check it out next time you're in the building!

Treasurer's Report

Going forward I will be providing a brief quarterly financial report for our membership. It was the desire of the Church Council that we provide ongoing financial info and I am more than happy to do so.

Therefore, below are the first 3 months financial results. Again, this is simply a snapshot of how the first quarter went. If you have any questions about the numbers or seek more detail please do not hesitate to contact me via email at jonwelles@charter.net.

During the first quarter, it was not necessary to transfer cash from Investments to our checking accounts. So, we cash flowed well during the first three months. Because we are only in the early part of our 2021/2022 fiscal year, at this time I am not going to compare results to the budget that was approved at our last Annual Meeting. The numbers tend to be confusing early on. But, starting with my next report at the end of the first half of our fiscal year I will add a comparison to budget column. At this point, suffice it to say that our YTD income is on track and expenses are running as anticipated. That is good news.
