Damiano Soup Kitchen

Pilgrim members, the next opportunity for volunteering at the Damiano Soup Kitchen is Monday, July 25, from 8:30 to 1:00. Two or three volunteers are needed. Please contact the church office if you are willing to help at office@pilgrimduluth.org or (218) 724-8503.

CHUM Updates

Good news!

On July 27, the Duluth City Council unanimously approved allocation of $1.6 million from the American Rescue Plan for a pilot project that will create 24 permanent housing units for people experiencing long-term homelessness. It will be developed by One Roof Housing with supportive services provided by Salvation Army.

Please take a moment to contact your city councilors to thank them for their support and other innovative responses to homelessness. They need to hear from the community how much we value investment in housing.

Food Shelf Needs:

The CHUM Food Shelf is participating in the Open Your Heart (OYH) Summer Challenge, an effort by Hunger Solutions Minnesota to fund solutions to end hunger and homelessness in Minnesota and ramp up food resources leading into the fall season. Funds raised during the month of July will be proportionately matched up to $4,000. Your gift today will help us rise to the challenge! Every dollar you give stays here in Duluth and helps us buy everything the Food Shelf needs to fill 300 Thanksgiving boxes. Please donate to the Summer Challenge today!

CHUM Parking Lot Concert

Big Wave Dave and the Ripples will perform at First United Methodist Church (the Coppertop) on Monday, July 18, at 6:30 pm. The "Room at the Table" food truck will also be there with a dinner menu starting at 5:30. The concert is free, but a free will offering will be taken for the CHUM food shelf.

Staff Vacations

Carla will be on vacation July 11–31.

What Patrick's Listening To

I'm on a fortepiano kick lately. Here's a lovely Haydn concerto.
