My Bailiwick
Dear Pilgrims,
I had a restful, peaceful vacation, and except for a recurrence of Covid for the first week, it was practically perfect. Warren and I did what we wanted to do each day. We settled Joe into his apartment so I reclaimed my home sewing room/office. We went with some old, dear friends to watch the Lynx play. We celebrated the Blueberry Festival in Ely and enjoyed a Two Harbors outdoor community band concert (in which Ted Harwood plays!). I read, hung some artwork, sewed a little. When I came back to work, I did NOT need a vacation to recover from my vacation!
Now, I’m looking ahead. We’re beginning to plan fall activities with and for Pilgrim’s children and families. A few great volunteers are helping Patrick and me paint our offices. I’m spreading the word about our new Faith Formation position everywhere I can think of. The Christian Ed and Worship Committees are looking to host an outdoor Sunday worship later this month. A little group of us are looking at hospitality/kitchen matters. I’m thinking about ways to engage you all in conversations about what you are thinking about, worrying over, yearning for as we all navigate these stressful days. In other words, I’m getting ready for another program year at Pilgrim with my faithful friends—you! It’s good to be back.
Blessing Box
Our Blessing Box is looking a little empty—please bring some dry goods to keep it well-stocked.

Pilgrim Book Club
The Pilgrim Women’s Book Club will meet Monday, August 8, at 4:00 pm via Zoom. For August we will be reading Little French Bistro by Nina George. This is the story of a woman who decides that she has spent enough of her life being unhappy, that it’s never too late to change her life, and so she does!
Because this a Book Club in a Bag selection, we have multiple copies available. Just stop in the church office, sign out a book, then join the discussion on August 8.
Damiano Soup Kitchen
Pilgrim members, the next opportunity for volunteering at the Damiano Soup Kitchen is Monday, August 22, from 8:30 to 1:00. Two or three volunteers are needed. Please contact the church office if you are willing to help at office@pilgrimduluth.org or (218) 724-8503.
