My Bailiwick

Dear Pilgrims,

The office painters were amazing! We’re waiting now for new carpet squares. Once they’re installed, we’ll host a Sunday coffee hour to show off our beautified digs. Thank you to Steve Grindy, Brian Medred, Harlan Stech, Andrew Streitz, and Patrick Colvin.

Plans for the remaining summer Sundays are shaping up—an outdoor service, a Second Hour about education opportunities from CHUM, a worship celebration of Pride—this year held at Peace UCC at 9:00 am on Sunday, September 4. Then the official church year begins on September 11 with our Gathering Worship, the beginning of church school, a dedication of our elected officers and committees, and the return of our adult choir (look for Joyful Noise children’s choir and Bellisimo handbell choir to reconvene soon)!

In the meantime, I’m thinking about something I read a few weeks ago that has caused a genuine shift in my “Christology”—what I believe about Jesus, his relationship to God, and how to understand what it actually means to be a disciple. It was such an obvious epiphany, I’m incredulous that I hadn’t seen it before! I’m not ready to preach it yet—still testing it out—but I look forward to talking to you about it soon, and wondering, with you, what discipleship might look like in these complicated, dangerous, deeply divided days. I believe we have some life-giving, hopeful choices to offer. More to come…

With love,
Carla

Children, Youth, & Families

Nursery

The nursery is open each Sunday from 9:30 am until the service is concluded.

Sunday School

The first day of Sunday School will be Sunday, September 11, 2022. Children will sit with their parents until the Children’s Message during the service and then head off to the sun room for Sunday School.
