eNews for Thursday, March 9
My Bailiwick
Dear Pilgrims,
As we wait for spring (sure sign is this Sunday’s switch to daylight saving time), one project we’re getting underway is updating our church directory! We are close to having updated contact information, but the photos are just a tad out-of-date. So, here’s the plan:
- You may leave the photo that is in the current directory, if you would like. This requires no action on your part.
Or
- You may have a new photo taken by our very own Warren Turner, pastor’s spouse and master of odd jobs. He will take photos on Sunday mornings before or after worship for the next three or four Sundays.
Or
- You may submit a photo of your own!
This is a March into April project and we really hope to catch everybody! Please help us get this project completed so we can provide an updated directory by Easter. In the meantime, it’s supposed to snow again this weekend. I’m trying to be happy about it.
Love to you all,
Carla
P.S. As we make books available each Sunday (they really ARE free for the taking), we have boxes of books each week to be delivered to the Duluth Public Library for their Friends of the Library annual book sale. Can you help deliver books? Boxes are packed and ready to go from my office.
Introducing Borealis Chamber Artists

The Duluth News Tribune included us in a wonderful story about the growing chamber music scene in Duluth!

Pilgrim Women's Book Club
As the reviewer at goodreads reports, Pilgrim Book Club's next read, Big Finish by Brooke Fossey, is pretty great!: "Meet Duffy, an old curmudgeon who lives in an assisted living home. Meet Josie, a desperate young woman who climbs through his window. Together, they’re going to learn it’s never too late—or too early—to change your ways… In a funny, insightful, and life-affirming debut, Brooke Fossey delivers an unflinching look at growing old, living large, and loving big, as told by a wise-cracking man who didn’t see any of it coming." This one gets a big thumbs up from Jean Jacobson, sending you this notice, who can't wait to see what other readers think when we meet next on March 13 at 4:00 pm.
Pick up a copy from the blue bag in the Pilgrim office and join us on Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85688201294?pwd=MUlpQSs4TSt6VzRuR3F4c1pqNHg3Zz09
Women's Fellowship Group
Although Cindy will be out of town, the Women's Fellowship Group will meet Tuesday, March 14, at 1:30 pm. D Desotelle will update us on CHUM and what's going on in the Minnesota legislature.
Chum News
Attention all Pilgrim youth and families (and any other interested members!): You are invited to an upcoming service opportunity at Peace Church on Saturday, March 11, from 9:00-11:00 am. For the 2nd Saturday Chum volunteer event this month, Peace is hosting a gathering to make a whole bunch of breakfast bars for the drop-in center at Chum. This is a great opportunity for families to come join in and volunteer together with Peace youth. Meet at 9:00 am in the Peace fellowship hall and get ready to smash together ingredients to make breakfast bars. RSVP to Sarah Beaster if interested in attending.
