eNews for Thursday, March 23
My Bailiwick
Dear Pilgrims,
The sun is shining today and the mountains of snow are a little smaller. Isn’t it amazing how both of those facts can lift one’s spirit?
We are preparing for our Stewardship Season—next week you’ll receive a letter with your pledge card. This Sunday I’ll be preaching about that wonderful story from Ezekiel of bringing a valley of skeletons back to life, wondering, with you, about what the story has to teach us about our church life. Is God bringing us back to life after the isolation of the pandemic? I hope so!
I also hope you’ll join us this Sunday for our Second Hour when members of Pilgrim’s youth group will lead us in a “Poverty Simulation." They’ve been working on the program for a couple of weeks and it’s pretty terrific—emotionally challenging, but also eye-opening for them and for us.
And here’s a little something for you to put on your calendars: Friday, May 5, a concert in our sanctuary with a couple of fabulous guest musicians, celebrating the impending coronation of King Charles III. What’s not to love about THAT?!?
Love to you all,
Carla
P.S. More books on the tables in Salter Hall—free for the taking!
March is MN Foodshare Month
The 42nd annual Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign is a statewide effort to restock food shelves. In Duluth our community's demand on food shelves has only been growing. Chum distributes boxes of healthy food at two locations. They are hoping to raise $100,000 and 50,000 pounds of food from February 28 through Easter, April 9! Please consider helping them meet their financial goal with a donation at givemn.org. Food donations can be brought to 120 North First Avenue West, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am-12:00 pm. Come down the alley and ring the bell, and they will be happy to take any and all donations!
P.S. Please keep in mind our own blessing box when shopping. Food (nothing canned or liquid) or any small items to bring comfort during the winter months are appreciated.
Help Wanted at the Jail
The county jail has a new teacher who needs an aide 5 hours a week. The teacher is blind hence the need for help. If anyone is interested, please contact Kathy Nelson at (218) 340-8223.

What Patrick's Listening To
Sometimes when you direct a church choir, you start thinking about what you'll do for Christmas in March. Here's "I Will Make a Way" by Tom Trenney, sung by the wonderful Wartburg Choir.
