eNews for Thursday, March 30
My Bailiwick
Dear Pilgrims,
Suddenly we are on the brink of Holy Week and there are a hundred things happening all at once! I hope you’ll make every effort to be with us for the events we’ve prepared, beginning this Sunday with Palm Sunday. Look ahead and join us for a simple soup supper on Maundy Thursday at 5:30 with communion at our tables in Salter Hall. On Good Friday we’ll be worshipping at Glen Avon Presbyterian Church at 7:00 pm, and then, of course, Easter Day we’ll celebrate with flowers and brass and lots of singing! And in the meantime:
- Would you be willing to contribute to our Easter flowers? Please mark your check with “Easter Flowers” on the memo line, and then, if you’ve contributed, plan to take flowers home with you.
- This Sunday we are beginning our “Because of You Our Church Changes Lives” presentations with a focus on children, youth, and families, with Grace Beaster speaking along with some wonderful photos. Because of the generous pledges so many of you make to Pilgrim, we’re able to be in active ministry with our children and youth—a blessing indeed.
- Tomorrow, March 31, is Transgender Day of Visibility. Transgender people are being so harshly targeted with violence, hatred, and truly vicious legislation. Here in Duluth, all are invited to Trans Day of Visibility in the Northland at The Depot, for making connections, support, food, and music, Friday, 5-7 pm.
- This Sunday will be our final session in the Justice and Mercy series—wrapping up our conversations and asking the question, What is our responsibility as progressive, committed Christians? We’ll meet in the Parlor after worship.
- One more announcement—on Sunday you’ll see a lovely little piano in Salter Hall. It belonged to Helen Anne Kohlbry and has been given to us by her son Robert. Though we may not keep it forever, it will bring us some beautiful music in time—it needs a little work done to it before it will be playable.
Love to you all,
Carla
P.S. And still MORE books on the tables in Salter Hall—free for the taking!
Salter Hall Piano
This Howard Apartment Grand from around 1930 is in lovely condition. Note the beautifully hand-embroidered bench cover—maybe Helen Anne made it herself?
March is MN Foodshare Month
The 42nd annual Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign is a statewide effort to restock food shelves. In Duluth our community's demand on food shelves has only been growing. Chum distributes boxes of healthy food at two locations. They are hoping to raise $100,000 and 50,000 pounds of food from February 28 through Easter, April 9! Please consider helping them meet their financial goal with a donation at givemn.org. Food donations can be brought to 120 North First Avenue West, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am-12:00 pm. Come down the alley and ring the bell, and they will be happy to take any and all donations!

Show Us Your Walks
From Steve Therrien, a snowshoe in March
We're lucky to live in a community with so much beauty and access to nature. Send Patrick your photos to share your walks with us in future emails!
What Patrick's Listening To
A change of pace. Did you know that video music is, increasingly, a thing in jazz and even classical circles? Here's the lovely Nahre Sol with her version of the title theme from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
