Newsletter and eNews for April 20

My Bailiwick

Dear Pilgrims,

We are putting together final details for our wonderful arts weekend—an exhibit of paintings of Carolyn Brunelle, and a fund-raising concert with Philip Brunelle on May 5. And I’m finalizing some work details before Warren and I take a little post-Easter vacation. We’re going south! We just learned last night of the death of one of Warren’s sisters who lived in Florida, so we’re adjusting our plans a bit. Details and vacations tend to yield to death, do they not?

This Sunday, Kathy Nelson and M Hakes will lead worship, which will include communion and a telling of the story of the disciples who didn’t recognize their resurrected Savior until they broke bread with him. Also, the fourth of our stewardship/pledge presentations—Jack Setterlund will reflect on how your gifts to the church make Pilgrim’s worship and music programs strong and meaningful. It really is true—Because of You, Our Church Changes Lives.

I’ll miss seeing you this Sunday. Your friendship has given both Warren and me strength and a deep sense of home.

Love to you all,
Carla

Stewardship Update

As our stewardship campaign 2023, “Because of YOU, Our Church Changes Lives” continues this week, we hope you are enjoying hearing from members about the ways Pilgrim Church is changing lives. We are active both inside and outside the building, as members of our faith community and more.

The stewardship/pledge campaign will culminate on Sunday, April 30, when we review and celebrate the results at the coffee hour after service. To that end, we ask that if you have not already done so, please prayerfully consider what Pilgrim means to you and the community around us, and make a financial pledge to support Pilgrim in the coming fiscal year, beginning July 1. Pledge cards returned to the office by April 28 can be included in the results, so please make an effort to have them in by then. If you have misplaced your card, contact the office and we’ll gladly supply another one.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support.

The Stewardship Committee, Steve Grindy, Chair

Pilgrim Celebrates the Arts

Friday, May 5, 3:00 pm: Minneapolis artist Carolyn Brunelle will show an exhibit of her paintings in Salter Hall, with an opening reception 3:00-5:00 pm. Refreshments will be served. Here's a video of Carolyn in her Studio.

Friday, May 5, 7:00 pm: Philip Brunelle will give a concert as a fundraiser for our Piano Rebuilding Fund. Philip is a choral scholar, conductor, and organist, and founder of VocalEssence. Joined by Clara Osowski, mezzo-soprano, Philip will present a program of British music—the first half of the recital will showcase Pilgrim’s 1919 Steinway piano; after a brief intermission, Philip will play the Jaeckel organ.

Admission to the events is free. All proceeds will go toward Pilgrim’s Piano Rebuilding Fund, and up to $25,000 will be matched by the Hegardt Foundation.
